Chirstmas is almost upon us. Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All!
Although the two songs on this tracklist are not Chirstmas Carols, listening to them will definitely shake the deep reaches of the Pinoy psyche, particularly the baby boomers.. These songs were the most popular, hottest items of the 1960's (nowadays, it's the pinoy scandals that always takes center stage).
As a kid, I once watch one of the numerous summer dances in our town back at our province. Before the first bar of these songs' intro were completed, all the ladies were taken (to the dance floor, I mean). No seat was occupied as every male teenager and lady dance partner were enjoying the sweet, slow music. For fun, my playmates and I counted the number of times "Faithful Love" was played in a span of two hours. Seven times, that means a repeat performance for every fifteen minutes. Not for the lack of 45 rpm vinyl records, there were plenty alright but by sheer popularity, "FL" and I Miss You So were on the very top of the list. I observed that the party males were continually bribing the man who plays the records (the equivalent of a DJ nowadays) to keep on playing these two songs.
There are at least three versions of these songs as recorded by Cesar Manalili and D'Coronets, the Electromaniacs, and the Ramrods. These are the Cesar Manalili version. I just love playing them on the car while driving. They still are as fantastic as they were in the '60's. Hope you enjoy them and the memories they bring.
